Halo: Spartan Assault is a top-down twin stick shooter designed for Windows 8 devices, namely PCs, tablets and the Windows Phone by Vanguard Games and 343 Industries, and published by Microsoft Games, as part of an attempt to build a stronger library of games for their handheld phone and newly created Windows 8 ecosystem. The game was initially set to launch in July 2013 for $6.99. Shortly after launch, an Xbox One upgraded port was announced for release on December 24, 2013 for $14.999. On April 4th, 2014, the game was released on Steam for $4.99.

Gameplay[]

Spartan Assault is a top-down shooter where players control a squad of SPARTAN-IV commandos, using a variety of Halo weaponry to battle the Covenant across numerous levels. The game will be based on touch screen controls on most Windows devices, but will feature Xbox 360 controller support sometime post-launch.

Plot[]

The events of Spartan Assault take place in-between the events of Halo 3 and Halo 4, starring SPARTAN-IV Sarah Palmer, chronicling her battle against a Covenant Splinter faction on an unknown alien planet.
