Assasssin's Creed III is the fifth mainline installment in the alternate history action-adventure Assassin's Creed franchise. The game sees the conclusion to the story that began in the first installment, with Desmond Miles finally confronting the Templar Order and seeking a way to avert the 2012 disaster. Like the other games in the series, the Desmond plot line is secondary to a historical story told through the Animus, in this case following the Miles family ancestory, Ratonhnhaké:ton, better known as Connor Kenway. Connor is a half Native American, half British assassin during the era of the Revolutionary War, which he becomes an essential part of.
A remaster of the game was announced as part of the season pass of Downloadable Content for Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, for release in 2019, in both DLC and stand alone formats for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC and exclusively as a stand alone release for the Nintendo Switch.
